River Rafting Urubamba River

FULL DAY RIVER RAFTING

Location: Urubamba River - Sacred Valley of the Incas - Cusco

Early in the morning we pick you up from the hotel and drive through the Andes to the Sacred Valley of the Incas to our private put in, located in Pachar, here you will receive your safety talk and equipment (toilet facilities).

After a brief period practicing on the flat parts of the river, the first part of the tour will be in easy water but with spectacular views of the mountains and archeological remains, passing down to Ollantaytambo and its Inca terraces and we find rapids class II and III finishing with "ElResbaladero" (the slippery one) which a strong class III rapid that includes waves and small whirlpools.

In the take out we dry off and change cloths, we will have a lunch at the side of the river in a traditional restaurant (Toilet facilities) owned by the local community. We will enjoy the spectacular Andean cuisine and help to support a local community project. Return to Cusco. End of our services.

Included:

• Pick up and drop-off in private transport from your hotel in Cusco or the sacred valley
• All rafting equipment including state of the art rafts, life jackets, splash jackets, helmets, first aid kit, dry box for cameras
• English speaking expert rafting guide trained in water rescue and wilderness first aid
• Lunch in a traditional restaurant (vegetarian option), or picnic lunch (optional)

What to bring:

• Towel, shorts or swim suit, T-shirt or thermal top, hat, sunglasses, sun block lotion, camera, change of clothes for after rafting.
• Any gear not used on the rafting trip (+ any non-rafting passengers) will travel in the shuttle bus and meet the clients at the end of the trip where lunch will be served.

Please note:

• This rafting section runs from April through to November. After that it becomes a much more serious class V river which we only offer to experienced rafters. At all times Discover Peru Now reserves the right to offer an alternative section if we consider the conditions are too dangerous to safely run this section. We can also run a section known as Cusipata which is generally safer and easier and is ideal for family groups. The youngest age we will take is ten years old.
